The core layer of three-layer parquet is usually glued from solid wood strips. In the production of the core layer, boards that have already been cut to the correct length are then cut lengthwise into thin strips/slats. The lamellas have a thickness of about nine to ten millimetres. This corresponds to the desired thickness of the central layer.
A multi-blade saw is used for ripping: In this machine several saw blades are arranged side by side on a common shaft. The distance between the saw blades determines the thickness of the produced strips.
