Coated raw boards are stored in a storage system for boards as the raw material for furniture production. It may be necessary to store a large number of different decors; this is often the case, for example, in the production of kitchen furniture and office furniture. Only in small warehouses are the boards stored vertically; more common is horizontal storage, i.e. the boards are stored in stacks. Such horizontal panel storage systems quickly take up a considerable amount of space. There are also solutions for horizontal storage in high-bay racks.
The boards are removed from the storage system and fed to the panel sizing saw. Adapted handling and conveyor technology is used for this purpose, especially for production on an industrial scale.
Mechanisation means the support of human labour by the use of machines and technical aids. In furniture production, mechanisation is often used to support the movement and to feed workpieces into processing machines.
