The wood chip washing process cleans the material of foreign objects such as stones and sand. The wear and tear of the process machines and tools is thus considerably reduced and the silicate content in the product is reduced in favour of processability. The uniform moisture penetration promotes homogeneous fibre production in the subsequent defibration process.
