A crosscut saw cuts the endless strand of solid wood leaving the finger jointing line into lamellas of a certain length.
In the case of straight glulam beams, all lamellas are required to be of the same length. The dimension here is determined by the length of the press. For special structural elements, such as gable roof trusses, a lamella plan is drawn up first: Each layer is given a different length according to the desired geometry of the element.
For the production of cross laminated timber, the dimensions for lamellas of the longitudinal and transverse layers are given by the dimension of the press.
