The lamellas or slats are divided in quality levels. The wood quality is judged from one side or both sides. This can be done by a trained employee, but usually an optoelectronic sorting system is used. If blanks or raw friezes of different lengths have been processed, the lamellas are additionally sorted according to their length at this point.
The lamellas are then temporarily stored in a magazine, separated according to quality grades, for further processing.
