Sometimes colour effects are desired for the surface design of multilayer parquet. By filling the pores and other depressions in the wood with a filling compound, the pores can be sealed, which, for example, creates a visual contrast to the natural colour of the wood. The demand for such effect surfaces is subject to fashion trends. Technically, the filler is not necessary.
The filler is applied by a rolling machine (putty applicator) with protrusion, i.e. a little more filler is applied than is actually needed. The filler must then harden. During the subsequent fine sanding of the wood, the excess is removed again with a wide belt sanding machine.
