The core layer or middle layer of three-layer parquet often consists of solid wood strips (more precisely: strips of solid softwood). We will therefore limit ourselves here to the description of this variant.
The core layer can either be prefabricated and buffered separately or laid just in time before the pressing process.
The strips are arranged at right angles to the top layer. Similar to plywood, high strength is achieved in this way. The strips for the middle layer are long enough to create a strip carpet with the width of several face layer decks (two to five). The starting material - boards of softwood - is first cut into pieces of the right length.
