A vacuum or membrane press is used to laminate the prepared workpiece with a foil. The coating material and the workpiece are heated. This activates the adhesive and the thermoplastic foil becomes shapeable. During pressing, the coating adapts to the surface of the workpiece. During cooling, the adhesive or film hardens, and the MDF board and the coating are then bonded together. Several workpieces are usually coated simultaneously in one pressing cycle.
After the pressing process, workpieces are separated and the unapplied part of the foil is removed. The excess foil is removed either manually or automatically using a cutting station on the press.
